Known for her appearances at domestic and international festivals such as “Ringo Music Festival” and “Love Parade Mexico,” her selection of background music for the Shibuya Ward Office, her contribution of music to the open-world RPG “Cyberpunk 2077,” and her management of “Shibuya Oiran,” the original warm-up bar celebrating its 15th anniversary, Yuki Kawamura resumed her own name music production activities during the COVID-19 pandemic after about 20 years, and has been consistently releasing music since then. This year, her DJ activities in Asia have been thriving, with weekly residencies and tours in Bali, Thailand, and South Korea, where she continues to play energetically.

This latest work is the lead track from her first album under her own name, “Love Forever,” scheduled for release this summer. It is a cover of a famous song by the late Jose Padilla from Ibiza Island, a DJ who had the greatest influence on Kawamura and whom she respects as her mentor.

Jose Padilla was the originator of the chill-out and Balearic DJ scene in Ibiza and gained fame as the compiler of the “Cafe Del Mar” CD series. His unique selection sense captivated the world, with Madonna citing one of his compilation albums as her favorite to take to a desert island.

Yuki Kawamura, who had been a fan of Jose Padilla for some time, met him during his visit to Japan around 2000 for an interview. Subsequently, she visited Ibiza at Jose’s invitation and co-performed with him at the “Sunset and Sea Music Concert” at the Enoshima Observation Tower, deepening their relationship as DJ mentor and friend.

In July of the year following Jose Padilla’s untimely passing in October 2020, she released “R.I.P. Sunset” as a tribute. Remix versions by House Violence, HIROSHI WATANABE aka KAITO, and Amps from TREKKIE TRAX were later released.

“Adios Ayer” is a renowned track released in 1999 that has long been cherished as a Balearic classic. In 2001, a version sung by SEAL was also released on the album “Navigator,” which was released worldwide by Maverick, the label Madonna established under WARNER MUSIC.

Five years after his passing, this long-awaited release, imbued with the desire to pass on and pay tribute to this masterpiece, features Okinawa’s diva, Naz, on vocals.

Born in 2000, Naz garnered attention on the audition program “X FACTOR OKINAWA JAPAN” when she was in the first year of junior high school. In 2018, she left a vivid impression with Tomita Lab’s “OCEAN ft. Naz.” Kawamura encountered Naz after featuring “Fare,” a track from her 2019 EP “JUQCY” produced by WONK’s Fumi Takeaki Esaki, on her radio program and in her DJ sets, leading to a close relationship. Meeting Naz as a vocalist became a crucial element in realizing the “Adios Ayer” cover.

Hideo Kobayashi, with whom she has collaborated on numerous works, co-produced this track and also accompanied her to Okinawa for the vocal recording. Jun Young aka Cityboy From Seoul, a popular DJ and guitarist from South Korea, participated on guitar. Originating in Ibiza and now based in Shonan where Kawamura resides, the musicianship she cultivated while DJing and traveling through Okinawa and South Korea beautifully merges in this elevated work.
